Welcome to Hallmark Health System’s Resource Guide to programs and services for women. Our mission is to coordinate and promote the comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, community services, and educational resources available for women at Hallmark Health System.

Our wide-ranging services are designed to promote wellness and provide families with expert medical care locally. From newborns to seniors, we incorporate a broad array of programs focused on the needs of residents and developed in collaboration with local community partners.

Advanced Gynecological Care

Baby Café
Located inside the Hope Alliance Church in Melrose, the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Baby Café is a free service available to all pregnant and breastfeeding mothers who are interested in the health and wellness benefits of breastfeeding.

Baby Safe Haven
The Safe Haven Act of Massachusetts (2004) allows a parent to legally surrender newborn infants 7 days old or younger at a hospital, police station, or manned fire station without facing criminal prosecution.youngwomenresize

All of our agencies and programs are leaders in guiding and shaping home health, preventative and long-term care.

Level II- Special Care Nursery
Affiliated with Tufts Medical Center, Special Care Nursery provides state-of-the art care in your neighborhood.

Maternal Child Home Care
From skilled nursing care for premature babies,to “Welcome Home” visits for families choosing a shorter inpatient maternity stay, Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice provides the latest in home health, preventative services and long term care.

Maternal Newborn Services
Our family-focused Maternal-Newborn program provides expert personalized nursing and medical care in a comfortable, relaxed environment close to home.

North Suburban Child and Family Resource Network
Providing education and support for parents.

Nutrition Services
We offer individualized counseling to help Patients achieve a healthy lifestyle and also treat individuals with eating disorders and focused on helping you prepare for the birth those needing nutrition guidance.

Shaken Baby Prevention Support Program
Hallmark Health System teaches families about the dangers of shaken baby syndrome through a program that focuses on education, prevention and support.

Women and Heart Disease
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women throughout the world, and Hallmark Health’s Women and Heart Disease program is in a position to help impact the health and well-being of women.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
Multi-site nutrition education and support program.

"Fit and Fabulous"

A free prenatal exercise and nutrition program for Moms at least 16 weeks pregnant and with approval from their health care provider.

Free lightly-used infant and children's clothing, maternity fashions, and baby care products.

WIC Breastfeeding Classes

Free weekday and weekend classes offered.

"Creative Coping for New Moms"

A parenting education and support program for first-time Moms with babies under the age of one year (funded by the Massachusetts Children's Trust Fund). Please call (781) 338-7607 to register or for further information.

2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember and universally recognizable number that makes a critical connection between individuals and families seeking services or volunteer opportunities and the appropriate community-based organizations and government agencies. 2-1-1 makes it possible for people to navigate the complex and ever-growing maze of human service agencies and programs. By making services easier to access, 2-1-1 encourages prevention and fosters self-sufficiency.

Domestic Violence Partners

If you or someone you know feels unsafe at home, you may contact the following agencies for assistance: Portal to Hope or Respond, Inc.

The following groups also provide education and awareness around issues of domestic violence:
Melrose Alliance Against Violence, Wakefield Alliance Against Violence or the Stoneham Alliance Against Violence .

Community Services
Dedicated to the development and implementation of public health promotion, education, management, and treatment programs targeting the health concerns of our communities.

Financial Counseling
The bilingual financial counsellors at Lawrence Memorial and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital will help determine your eligibility for state-funded programs, assist in the completion of applications for Financial Assistance, serve as your personal advocate between you and the State, refer you to additional state agencies who can provide assistance, assist in scheduling medical appointments with physicians or for testing and procedures, make the application renewal or re-enrollment process easier.)

Interpreter Services
Hallmark Health System provides interpreter services for non/limited English speaking patients as well as the deaf/hard of hearing patients. Interpreter service may be used within any of our facilities and hospital-based physician practices. Patients should speak with their doctor's office if they are in need or an interpreter for a doctor's visit or test within our facilities.)
