Khether Raby, MD, an interventional cardiologist at Hallmark Health's Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, will be the event's keynote speaker and will address women and coronary artery disease. During lunch there will be one-on-one consultations with a registered dietician and pharmacist. Participants can also take part in free blood pressure, body mass index and heart healthy screenings while learning more about the importance of good nutrition and how stress, exercise and wellness can affect one's cardiac health.
"Many women don't realize that heart disease is the number one killer of women (and men) in the United States," said Dr. Raby. "More than 250,000 women die from heart attacks each year. By holding the HeartSense for Women event, we hope to save women's lives through education. Increasing awareness of heart attack risk factors and symptoms will help enable women to recognize the problem and seek treatment immediately, which can lead to lifesaving treatment."
The seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This community seminar is free, but registration is required. To register, call 781-338-7571. Lunch and refreshments will be offered.
