The Stride for Healthy Communities is Hallmark Health System’s annual walk to benefit key hospital and community services including cancer care and cardiology programs, emergency services and the North Suburban Child and Family Resource Network. Monies raised go to support these important family services and other community outreach initiatives such as health screenings, support programs and clinical resources.

Cindy Fitzgibbons from WCVB-TV/Channel 5, a walk sponsor, will emcee. There will be many family-friendly events, Record a news story in the WBZ Kidcast Mobile Studio; Masks by Design Face Painting will be at the event, along with a balloon artist. Joy Fay from Melrose Boot Camp is our warm up instructor. You'll also see The Boston Bruins’ mascot, Blades, who will be at the walk to urge us on.

Free parking is available at 200 Quannapowitt Parkway behind the Comverse building or at the baseball field on North Avenue. Beginning at 8 a.m. a free shuttle is available from 200 Quannapowitt Parkway to take walkers and teams to the start of the walk at the bandstand. The last return shuttle trip will be at 11:30 a.m.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to register for the event, which includes a 3-mile walk around beautiful Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, music, food, family activities, giveaways, health information and more. Last year more than 300 walkers and supporters came out to join in the day’s festivities.
