Hallmark Health Cancer Center welcomes new providers, names medical director

Dr. McMasters joins Hallmark Health from the North Division of Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY, where she completed a hematology/oncology fellowship.  Prior to that, Dr. McMasters completed a three-year residency at Lenox Hospital in New York City where she received the “Outstanding Resident of the Year” and “Outstanding Commitment to Hospital Medicine” awards.

Dr. McMasters also studied in Switzerland and Poland, where she received her medical doctor (MD) degree and performed residency programs in the fields of otolaryngology and general surgery. She is board certified in internal medicine and is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology.

At BIDMC, Mortellite managed patients with multiple hematologic/oncologic disease processes in the outpatient setting with a focus on patients with lymphoma, leukemia and multiple myeloma. She also worked on the Bone Marrow Transplant Team.

Mortellite received her bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College before going on to obtain a Masters of Science in Nursing from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions.

In addition to welcoming new providers, the Hallmark Health Cancer Center also recently named Rebecca Eisenberg, MD the center’s medical director. She has been with Hallmark Health since 2007.

As medical director, Dr. Eisenberg will continue to have an active clinical practice while providing strategic planning and medical direction for the center.

Dr. Eisenberg graduated with honors from Tufts University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She went on to receive her medical doctor (MD) degree from the New York University School of Medicine.

Dr. Eisenberg completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Dr. Eisenberg is board certified in internal medicine and hematology-oncology. Her professional memberships include the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology.

The past spring the Hallmark Health Cancer Center was awarded approval with commendations from the American College of Surgeons, recognizing the high quality of its programs. This means that the cancer center will continue its designation as a “Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program.”

The cancer center is comprised of the CHEM Center for Radiation Oncology and the Hematology Oncology Center, both conveniently located on Montvale Avenue in Stoneham. Hallmark Health is proud to provide patients local access to renowned oncologists and the latest cancer treatment and support options.
