Nov. 6, 2012 - Hallmark Health System is pleased to announce that Alan Macdonald has been named the organization’s new executive vice president for strategy and external affairs.
A resident of Winchester, Macdonald spent many years as a member and chairman of the Hallmark Health System Board of Trustees. In 2011 he was the recipient of a prestigious Hallmark Health System Hero Award for his distinguished service within the field of healthcare, service to the community and service to Hallmark Health System
Prior to joining Hallmark Health System, Macdonald led the Massachusetts Business Roundtable for 23 years where he worked hand-in-hand with the state’s leading business executives to develop positions and programs on economic and social issues including consumer-based health care. Prior to his executive leadership role with the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, he served as the regional head of public and legislative affairs for General Electric Corporation and Gulf Oil Corporation. Macdonald also served early in his career as an Assistant Attorney General for Massachusetts, working primarily in the areas of environmental law and criminal law enforcement.

Macdonald holds an A.B. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Boston College Law School. He was recently appointed by Governor Deval Patrick to serve on the Board of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and currently is a member of the Advisory Council of the State’s Office of the Inspector General and on the Massachusetts Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission. He is a Founding Director of the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative, which was established to oversee the use of grant-funding to guide electronic medical recordkeeping among Massachusetts’ healthcare providers.
